Installing a POI
Note:- You should always back up your device before installing
any files. We cannot be held responsible for any losses.
Introduction
When you download & unzip a tomtom POI you will
receive 2 files, they have the extensions; .ov2, and
.bmp, the image file . e.g. if you download the Asda POI you will receive ‘Asda.ov2’ and
‘Asda.bmp’
Instructions
1. Download & unzip the voice which you wish to install.
2. Connect
your Tomtom via the
USB cable. or insert the Tomtom card into you card reader if you have
one.
3. If a pop
up window appears as below, double click Open folder to view files,
this is where your Tomtom data is stored.

Otherwise click: Start then My computer, you
should see your tomtom device amongst the list of devices. Double
click to Open, this is where your tomtom data is stored. |
4. Locate
your map folder. This will have an area name, e.g. Western Europe or
Great Britain and Republic of Ireland,
5. Copy
2 POI files from the downloaded file (
e.g. Asda .ov2’ and
‘Asda .bmp ) & paste into the map folder (To copy right click & select copy. To paste right click &
select paste)
6. Turn off
your Tom Tom and disconnect, or re-insert the card into the Tomtom
7. Switch on
your Tomtom and check for the new POI. Tap screen - change preferences -
enable/ disable POIs
8. If you
need a warning for a POI, such as a speed camera. Tap screen - change
preferences - manage POIs -warn when near POI & choose the POI from the
list.
